In 2000, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance began its work as the lead organization for economic development activities throughout the county. Allen County, the City of Fort Wayne, the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority contract with the Alliance, a private, not-for-profit corporation, to generate and retain quality jobs for local residents of Allen County.

During the past five and a half years, our community has realized successes that have served to strengthen our economy. These successes are the result of working cooperatively with a number of organizations and individuals. Through the collaborative efforts of the cities of Fort Wayne and New Haven, Allen County, the Airport Authority, the NewAllen Alliance, the Greater Fort Wayne and New Haven Chambers of Commerce, the State of Indiana, JobWorks, local utilities, area brokers and developers, educational institutions and the private sector, we continue to develop a stronger community.

It is through this partnership that the Alliance is able to package and market our community’s resources to attract, grow, and retain business in Allen County, Indiana. Thus far, we have interacted with thousands of businesses regarding economic opportunities in our community. Activities announced by more than 100 employers—including several that we are welcoming to our community as new corporate citizens— have resulted in the retention of more than 9,000 jobs and the projected addition of more than 4,100 new jobs.

We are pleased with these success stories, yet we anticipate greater achievement ahead. The Alliance is prepared to quickly and competently pursue all strategic growth opportunities, whether for 5 jobs or 5000, rural or urban redevelopment, or increasing use of the Air Trade Center at Fort Wayne International Airport.
