Communications and Defense Contracting
The communications and defense contracting cluster assists with endeavors at home and abroad. From telecommunications and print publications here in Fort Wayne to military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is a limitless number of projects your company can tackle in this area.

Indiana invests heavily in information technology (IT) infrastructure. The state's fiber optic network is among the best in the nation. Verizon Communications has recently invested $100 million in a FTTP (Fiber to the Premise) program in Fort Wayne.

In 2005, the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) effort handed down a decision to retain the 122nd Fighter Wing presence in Fort Wayne and also made the addition of 300 defense jobs.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is the State of Indiana's lead economic development agency. IEDC was officially established in February 2005 to replace the former Department of Commerce. In order to respond quickly to the needs of businesses, IEDC operates like a business. In an effort to provide businesses with the most complete range of services, state economic development agencies that were previously separate from the Department of Commerce have been incorporated into the IEDC organizational structure. With its new structure and improved tool-kit resulting from a successful legislative effort undertaken by the Governor and the Indiana General Assembly during the 2005 legislative session, the IEDC is equipped and ready to make Indiana competitive in the 21st Century economy.
