Allen County Schools K-12
Four public school districts encompass the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County. These districts include 57 elementary, 20 middle and 11 high schools -as well as 3 middle/high school combinations and 5 specialty schools. In addition, there are 45 Catholic, 106 Lutheran, 6 Amish schools and a number of other Non-Public or specialized schools. There are also several Home Schooling associations in the Fort Wayne Community. The four public school districts are:

Many innovative programs have been incorporated into the Allen County school system. Examples of such programs include the FWCS Microsoft partnership and the EACS Cisco Networking Academy. 


Vocational Education
The Fort Wayne-Allen County community values the benefits of vocational education. Area employers have seen the advantages of these skills in their day-to-day operations. Listed below are a few of the vocational education opportunities that exist.

In April 2006, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast in Fort Wayne announced that the assets of the Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) program at Ivy Tech’s Wabash Valley campus in Terre Haute will be relocated to Fort Wayne. The move is aimed at growing the existing A&P program in Fort Wayne offered in a cooperative relationship with Anthis Career Center. Click here to read the Alliance news release.


Higher Education
Allen County and the surrounding area offer many higher education opportunities. Indiana University - Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW), Indiana Tech and University of Saint Francis allow students to pursue either four-year degrees or obtain Master’s degrees. Concordia University, Taylor University and Indiana Wesleyan University are well known for their liberal arts educations, and technical education is available at Indiana Vocational College, Ivy Tech Community College, Tri-State University, ITT Technical Institute, International Business College, Indiana Business College and Brown Mackie College. All of these institutions allow students to obtain a degree, certificate or merely broaden their educational horizons through traditional or flexible class scheduling.
