Airport Authority Chooses Vice President of Airport Development

Fort Wayne, Ind. (May 4, 2009) — The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority announced today that Mr. Patrick Dooley has been named vice president of airport development. Dooley will officially begin his duties on May 4. The Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority entered into a marketing and development agreement in January 2003. Dooley will be an employee of the Alliance and work out of both the Airport Authority and Alliance offices.

“After an extensive search for this position, we are pleased to introduce Patrick Dooley as vice president of airport development,” stated Tory Richardson, executive director for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. “We are confident that Mr. Dooley’s experience and focus will be a benefit to us and will aid in furthering the advancement of economic development at our community’s airports.”

Dooley’s recent professional background included 10 years with the Indianapolis International Airport (IND), where he served as airport director, vice president of business development, director of marketing and director of retail. Prior to serving at IND, Dooley was director of economic development and special events for Indianapolis Downtown Inc. Dooley is also part of the 2012 Super Bowl Legacy Leadership Committee as co-chair of economic development.

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority (FWACAA), created in 1985, owns and operates the Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) and Smith Field Airport (SMD). Since FWACAA’s inception, Fort Wayne International Airport has undergone an aggressive improvements plan which included expansion of the terminal and parking areas, upgrades to the runways, and the creation of a new Air Trade Center to promote economic development in Northeast Indiana. The Authority is governed by a six–member board appointed by both the Mayor of Fort Wayne and the Allen County Commissioners.
