Construction equipment and supply company could invest $550,000

Fort Wayne, Ind. (July 28, 2009) — AirWorx Construction Equipment & Supply has announced that it will build a 7,500 sf building at 2108 W. Washington Center Road. The Fort Wayne facility will be the company’s third Indiana location. AirWorx also has branches in Warsaw, Indianapolis and Cincinnati, Ohio. Project completion is expected for September 2009.

Airworx is an independent full-service equipment distributor servicing the rental and sales needs of construction and industrial markets. The company was founded in Indianapolis in 1996 by company president, Dick Kagy. “Fort Wayne is an opportune location to continue to grow our business,” said Kagy. “We believe we will benefit from the area market, and we are looking forward to working with local contractors and construction firms.”

Total investment for the project is approximately $550,000 and will call for the addition of up to 11 jobs. The positions to be added include management, sales, mechanic, administrative and drivers.

“The ability to expand a business and build a new facility during these difficult economic times indicates the success and hard work taking place at AirWorx Construction & Supply,” stated Mayor Tom Henry. “The arrival of this company will benefit those in the construction industry, but of greater importance, it adds jobs to our local workforce and signals new investment in our community.”

The property in which AirWorx will build its facility was originally zoned for residential use, but the company has taken action to have the land rezoned for commercial use. The Fort Wayne Common Council will vote tonight as to whether it will approve this request. The company has also asked that taxes be phased in on the project. AirWorx could realize $69,454 in real property tax savings over ten years if the tax abatement application is approved by The City of Fort Wayne.
