Fort Wayne, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2009) — Automated Control Systems (ACS) announced it is working with a Huntington, Indiana, company—TransWheel Corporation—to create a new machine for the replacement wheel provider. ACS, a systems integrator and custom machine builder located in New Haven, Indiana, has crafted and developed innovative programming controls for the new equipment.
The new machine is a wheel identification system, which will be used to identify and label wheels that come to the TransWheel facility from various sources. The system will be able to check the diameter, width, bolt-hole pattern and the image and style of the wheels. The new machine will also be able to label and sort wheels. The wheel identification system is expected to be completed and available for use by March.
“In creating the wheel identification system, we were able to utilize state of the art manufacturing and engineering techniques to come up with a new and cutting edge technology,” said Rick Johnson, general manager of ACS.
“We are very excited about our partnership with Automated Control Systems,” stated James Devlin, vice president of operations and administration for TransWheel. “The resulting technology from this collaboration will put us ahead of the competition by enabling us to be quicker and more efficient.”
The association between ACS and TransWheel highlights the interconnectedness between Huntington and Allen counties, as both are part of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership (NIRP), an organization that markets an eleven county area in the northeast Indiana region. “The Alliance welcomes the idea of demonstrating our partnership with Huntington County United Economic Development through the business relationship of ACS and TransWheel,” stated Rob Young, president of the Alliance.
