Fort Wayne, Ind. (August 22, 2011) — Bridge Packaging LLC, has announced it is creating a new business entity, Bridge Plastics Mfg. in an effort to vertically integrate its products and services. Bridge Packaging, founded in 2003 is located at 1830 Wayne Trace and is a whole sale distributor of paper, packaging materials and packaging equipment.
Bridge Plastics will be occupying 4,000 square feet of production space within the Urban Enterprise Center. The company will manufacture poly air bubble and bubble laminates commonly known as bubble wrap. These products will be sold to industrial and retail customers throughout Indiana and throughout Midwestern states.
“The project is phase one of a series of planned equipment acquisitions that will allow Bridge Packaging to manufacture about 35% of what it typically wholesales,” said Gary Elliott, Bridge Packaging president. “Bridge’s manufacturing arm will be the only producer of the popular bubble wrap products in the state of Indiana, allowing it to market its own brand of bubble wrap to both end users and distributor customers.”
Sales for the initial three years of operation are projected to be in the three to four million range for Bridge Plastics. It has also taken on a new plant manager, three machine operators, support personnel and a group of five independent representatives and sales agents to push products in Indiana, along with nearby Midwestern states. Bridge officials are planning to hire an additional 5 to10 employees for Bridge Plastics and Bridge Packaging over the next twelve months.
“Bridge Packaging’s decision to expand its Fort Wayne operation is yet another example of how Fort Wayne is becoming a destination for good jobs to grow and businesses to prosper. Seeing local companies decide to stay and expand in Fort Wayne demonstrates our favorable business climate and capable workforce,” said Mayor Tom Henry.
