Fort Wayne, Ind. (April 9, 2009) — Buchanan Hauling & Rigging, Inc. has announced an expansion at its Fort Wayne headquarters. The overall investment for the project is approximately $520,000 and the transportation and logistics company will add 60 new jobs in the next five years. Project completion is scheduled for 2012.
“This is a very exciting time for our company,” said Geary Buchanan, president of Buchanan Hauling & Rigging. “We have focused on diversifying growth with a number of Fortune 500 companies, which has allowed us to be in a position to increase jobs and expand our company headquarters.”
Buchanan Hauling & Rigging is a comprehensive provider of regular and expedited transportation and logistics services throughout the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico. The new jobs are expected to be a combination of brokerage and customer service, logistics and professional and administrative positions.
"Even in a challenging national and world economy, Indiana keeps taking steps forward. Our low cost of doing business, unmatched infrastructure and aggressive pursuit of new jobs is helping us stand out against our competition and win new opportunities with companies like Buchanan Hauling," said Governor Mitch Daniels.
Buchanan Hauling & Rigging is part of the transportation, distribution and logistics sector, which is one of the seven targeted industries the Alliance has identified as likely to provide economic and job stability for the foreseeable future.
“The news of Buchanan Hauling & Rigging’s expansion and hiring of 60 new positions is a positive and welcome sign for the City of Fort Wayne,” stated Mayor Tom Henry. “This underscores what we have been hearing: that our community continues to support vitality and growth during difficult economic times.”
The Fort Wayne Common Council will consider phasing in taxes associated with the project. Buchanan Hauling & Rigging could save approximately $28,874 on real property and $3,618 on personal property taxes over a ten year period. The company is also eligible for $50,000 in job-specific training reimbursement, $12,000 in recruitment and assessment services and $10,500 in computer training from WorkOne Northeast.
