Fort Wayne, Ind. (Sept. 13, 2011) — Custom Engineering & Fabrication announced today that it will expand operations at its new facility at 2002 South Coliseum Boulevard. The company will invest $161,000 in manufacturing equipment and property improvements and are expected to add 14 new jobs. The project will begin this month and is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2011.
"This investment will allow us to focus on making sure our products remain innovative and at the forefront of manufacturing solutions," said Bob Hatfield, president of Custom Engineering & Fabrication. "Our Freeman Street facility has experienced considerable growth in the last few years and we are working hard to ensure this trend continues by expanding in to our new location."
Custom Engineering & Fabrication provides manufacturing solutions to a number of different industries, including asphalt, scrap recycling, steel, glass, foam, exterior doors, wood, mineral wool, and paper. They have purchased the former Fort Wayne Structural Products building at the corner of South Coliseum Boulevard and New Haven Avenue in the Urban Enterprise Zone. The company will use the 38,000 square feet for manufacturing space and plans to sublease the remaining 6,000 square feet of office space.
"This most recent expansion by the company is a testament to Fort Wayne's business-friendly climate and to the quality of our local workforce. Custom Engineering & Fabrication’s ongoing investment shows its commitment to the successes and well-being of our community,” said Mayor Tom Henry.
Custom Engineering & Fabrication’s new building is located in the Urban Enterprise Zone and the company is eligible for the Enterprise Zone deduction for any investments in new equipment. The Urban Enterprise Association also intends to provide a grant to the company to assist with the removal of decaying trees, reconfiguring the parking lot and constructing a new fence.
