Razor Products to introduce Lektra-Lift Hitch Carriers
Fort Wayne, Ind. (Dec. 12, 2008) — Razor Products Inc. announced today that it has developed and is ready to begin manufacturing and marketing the Lektra-Lift Hitch Carriers. The patent-pending, electric lift can attach to any size hitch and lower to the ground to allow easy loading of medical mobility scooters, ATVs, riding lawn mowers, dirt bikes, and other items that do not exceed 500 pounds.
“The potential market for the Lektra-Lift is very promising,” stated Razor Products CEO Ben Reuille. “We believe everything is in place for our company to have success that will continue for years to come.”
The versatility of the Lektra-Lift should appeal to different users who have the need to transport light to medium loads safely and easily using an everyday vehicle. Another draw to the lift device is that it is powered by a 12 volt battery and activated by a key-fob remote, which allows the platform to be lowered to the ground for easy loading and unloading. The device is lightweight and made of three components for ease of installation and disassembly, and compact storage when not in use.
Research and development work on the Lektra-Lift began in 2004, and in 2005 Razor Products was incorporated. The company currently employs four full-time and part-time associates and will hire two inside sales representatives once manufacturing begins. Razor Products has received a commitment from the Fort Wayne-Based Sherman Group to produce the Lektra-Lift utilizing its companies, which include Fab-Weld, Hoosier Manufacturing and Deister Concentrator. This relationship with the Sherman Group gives Razor Products a competitive advantage due to the group’s strong manufacturing capabilities. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has helped Razor Products in developing a business plan to attract investors.
“The crossover ability for a product like the Lektra-Lift is a key advantage for Razor Products,” said Jane Rich, SBDC business advisor. “Having a product in which there are many avenues to market will be very good for today’s business climate.”
