Galen Eberhart, DCEDP Executive Director, to Retire in June

02/26/2010

Auburn, Ind.
(February 25, 2010) — The DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership (DCEDP), announced today that its executive director, Galen Eberhart, has decided to retire. Eberhart’s last day is expected to be June 9, 2010, but he has offered to remain available to the organization as a consultant after retirement and will provide training to the incoming director during an overlap period.

“Leading this organization has been very rewarding and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve DeKalb County,” said Eberhart. “It has been a tremendous experience working with the DCEDP staff, board of directors and all of our economic development partners in Northeast Indiana.”

Eberhart became executive director of the DCEDP in June of 2006, shortly after the organization signed a contract to become affiliated with the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance (Alliance). His previous experience includes several years of service with three rural electric membership corporations (REMCs). While in DeKalb, Eberhart was responsible for bringing in 14 projects, investment of over $47 million and 766 new jobs into the county.

“It has been a pleasure to serve on the DCEDP board during Galen’s time of leadership,” stated Steve Bingham, DCEDP board president. “We are very appreciative of all the work Galen has done in establishing the DCEDP as a viable economic development agency.”

“Galen has been such an integral part to the success of the DCEDP that his guidance will be greatly missed,” said Andi Udris, Alliance president. “We, at the Alliance, wish him the best of luck as he and his family embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

The DCEDP is working with the Alliance to find qualified individuals for the executive director position. The submittal period will span three weeks, with the organizations looking to have the position filled by May.
