FORT WAYNE, Ind. (January 23, 2009)—Navistar, Inc., is adding approximately 40 positions at its truck engineering facility in Fort Wayne in 2009. The new positions for degreed designers and engineers will help Navistar meet new business agreements associated with its Blue Diamond joint venture with Ford Motor Company. Last week Ford and Navistar settled past legal disputes clearing the way for the additional work in Fort Wayne.
For the past seven years at the Truck Design and Technology Center (TDTC) at 2911 Meyer Road Navistar has conducted design, development and validation testing for the Ford F-650 and F-750 truck lines as part of the Blue Diamond program. That work will increase going forward and will include product and process improvements for the trucks and a new project to help Ford comply with 2010 federal engine emissions standards for its medium duty trucks.
“We’re pleased to be bringing this additional work to Fort Wayne at this time,” said Steve Bruford, Navistar’s vice president of global product creation and TDTC site executive. “Joint ventures allow partners with particular expertise to deploy those skills to the betterment of all involved. Navistar is excited to begin this next phase of its relationship with Ford Motor Company.”
In an effort to reach as many qualified individuals as possible Navistar will work in conjunction with WorkOne Northeast to recruit the needed design and engineering talent as quickly as possible. Individuals interested in learning more about or applying for the available positions should visit
