Fort Wayne, Ind. (August 08, 2008) —The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Fort Wayne Section will commemorate its 100 years of existence in Fort Wayne with a Centennial Celebration at the Grand Wayne Center on Thursday, August 14. In conjunction with this event, Navistar will hold a job fair for the approximately 200 positions at its Truck Engineering Facility in Fort Wayne.
The IEEE celebration includes Technical Advancement and Professional Development courses and presentations in the morning, a mid-day expo, and an evening gala to culminate the day’s events. The Professional Development courses are open to the public. Cost is $18 per session. Tickets for the evening gala are available at the IEEE Fort Wayne Section website. The highlight of the gala will be keynote presentations by retired Lieutenant General Bruce Harris and renowned planetary scientist Carolyn Porco.
The IEEE is a non-profit organization that is the world’s largest leading professional organization for the advancement of technology. There are 375,000 IEEE members worldwide, with 360 members at the Fort Wayne section.
Navistar, a sponsor for the IEEE Fort Wayne Section event, will hold the job fair in the expo area of the Grand Wayne Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Navistar is looking only for degreed professionals in the area of mechanical, electrical systems and software engineering to fill a combination of entry-level, management and contract positions. The company is working towards having the new positions filled by the end of 2008.
The Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance and the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (NIIC) are sponsors of the IEEE’s Fort Wayne Section Centennial Celebration. The event received support from others including, ITT Corporation and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership (NIRP).
