INDIANAPOLIS (July 15, 2010) - Forty one companies from 18 Indiana counties have earned a place in Indiana's third annual field of "Companies to Watch."
The accolade, presented by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, its Small Business Development Center network, Purdue University and the Edward Lowe Foundation, recognizes the state's privately held businesses that employ up to 150 employees and have between $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue or capital.
"Firms like these named 'Companies to Watch' continue to be the catalyst that is fueling Indiana's emergence from a turbulent national economy," said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "Congratulations to this exemplary group of Indiana businesses that continue to invest in their communities and create new jobs in all corners of our state."
The 41 "Companies to Watch," which were named after evaluating more than 300 nominations for the awards, represent industries ranging from alternative energy development to food production and industrial gear makers to information technology firms.
The 41 chosen companies project to have combined revenues in excess of $500 million and create nearly 1,000 new jobs this year. The revenue projections represent an increase of more than $100 million from 2009.
With major sponsorship from Premier Capital Corporation, the "Companies to Watch" awards program is an initiative developed by the Cassopolis, Mich.-based Edward Lowe Foundation. The foundation hosts similar programs in Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. The program is also sponsored in part by Barnes & Thornburg, LLP, Katz Sapper & Miller and KeyBank.
The 41 "Companies to Watch" will be honored at an Aug. 26 ceremony at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. Tickets for the ceremony and dinner are still available and may be purchased online at http://www.indianactw.eventbrite.com/ or by calling 888.472.3244.
