Grabill Master Plan

Grabill is located in Allen County. Since the mid-1800’s, it is considered to be in the middle of one of the nation’s largest settlements of Old-Order Amish. It is also the home of Allen County’s Amish settlement, with the first arriving in 1852. In fact, in 2009, Allen County Amish community was stated to be the tenth largest Amish settlement in America, by number of church districts. Grabill started out as a Mennonite community with roots of the Anabaptist movement after Luther’s European Reformation in which the Amish came to America in search in search for their religious freedom and a new place to grow. Since April 2004, Grabill has had over 33,000 visitors and continues to attract visitors to experience the Amish lifestyle.

Grabill Country Village is a retail development concept located on 15 acres of Grabill Road (State Street) at Fairview Drive in Grabill, Indiana. The project is comprised of specialty retail, a restaurant, a 30 room guesthouse and many more. The first phase was completed in the summer of 2009 and included the construction of a 20, 000 sq. ft bulk food store adjacent to the Save-A-Lot Grocery store. The second phase proposed the construction of approximately 8,000 square feet of restaurant space featuring 350 seats serving traditional Amish home-style cooking and local Indiana favorites along with a small outdoor garden with a 150 seat eating area. Included in the structure will be a 30 unit guesthouse hotel with approximately 30,000 square feet in size. As other development projects are forming, the goal of Grabill Country Village is to provide an Amish lifestyle while catering to consumers by providing the best quality lodging, foods and entertainment.
